ho-hai-yan , ocean
The new folk song from Tai-Tung puyuma
tribes
In 2000 pau-dull's first CD The Ocean won two awards at the
Golden Melody Awards, and this shy, soft-spoken policeman of the
Puyuma tribe in Taidong suddenly became one of the most popular
and well-respected singer-songwriters in Taiwan.
Just one listen is enough to know why. pau-dull's guitar playing
is mesmerizing, and his voice thrums with passion and feeling
for his aboriginal culture and his ancestral home, the
mountainous coast of south-east Taiwan.
An aboriginal chorus contributes rich harmonies and a warm sense
of community and friendship. These songs are flawless in their
conception and production, but their most wonderful quality is
that they are works of love, love for people, love for one's
heritage, and the love for home.
On this album you will hear the ocean, along with one man's love
for it and all it represents.
